MusicAL theatre training
This perfect class for the budding triple threat explores the history of musical theatre through song, dance and good ol' fashioned stories. What makes a good musical? Well, We'll Start At The Very Beginning, then Ease On Down The Road Into The Woods, and continue learning until someone asks Do You Hear The People Sing to find out. Students will begin to appreciate the historical influence of this very fun art form while also learning how to critique and put into words why it is they love that musical so much. Equal parts Acting, Voice, and Dance training: your burgeoning actor will gain knowledge from professionals that will serve them for years to come. Our final performance will be a major musical review, highlighting the influential musicals from the past 75 years. Grades 4-8.

In 2013, Cassie Slater created the popular Music & Creative Play Program, Stomp and Shout Chicago. The marriage of her twenty years of teaching experience and her equally long professional acting career birthed a program that is more than a performing arts curriculum. Stomp and Shout is a program that guides young minds to be curious, to be brave, to ask questions of themselves and the world around them. It does this through play and imagination amidst an always inspiring musical backdrop. Since its inception, Stomp and Shout has grown to include numerous schools in Chicago and embarked on imaginative journeys in multiple locations across the U.S. Cassie is a recipient of Chicago's Jeff Award for Best Actress in a musical and the 2009 winner of the New York Music Theatre Festival's next Broadway Sensation Competition. She's performed all over the U.S. and China, is a proud member of Actors Equity and a graduate of The Theatre School at DePaul University. Best of all -- she's mom to sweet Winona who gives her endless inspiration.
Stomp and Shout is a multi-arts program that utilizes music, theatre, & imagination to grow students' social and emotional learning while strengthening their empathic selves, problem solving and cognitive thinking skills.
The teachers at Stomp and Shout have over 100 combined years of professional acting experience (that's A LOT of years).
Our teachers have worked on National Tours, Off-Broadway, and at quintessential Chicago theatres like The Marriott Theatre, The Goodman Theatre, Drury Lane Theatre, The Paramount, The Mercury, Chicago Shakespeare, Court Theatre, and many more.
More than a few of our teachers have been nominated (and WON) Jeff Awards, Chicago's theatre awards.
You've seen a handful of them on TV and in commercials and a few more in films.
Most importantly, our teachers value the importance of playing and pretending. They bring their joyful spirit to class and look forward to inspiring the mini artists of Chicago.
